Towards Washington!
We are pretty close to the Bridge of the Gods now, the border to Washington!
How incredible!

So I am having breakfast with Cowboy at the Fishlake Resort.
“I am going to get a ride up to Crater Lake”, he says. “I have blisters and am done hiking for now”.
The times are very emotional. After a high which lasted for almost three months, I need to try to control my emotions.
Felix and Andy tell me that they have now both decided to stop hiking, at least for the moment, as there is just too much snow out here still.
My trail family and I seem to have come to the conclusion and general agreement, that there is really no reason to rush at the moment. The slower we hike, the more time does the snow have to melt.
I am in Tehachapi in a hair salon! Even though we are “Hiker Trash” (more about the term “Hiker Trash” later in another blogpost), I think I want to keep up some sort of style!
So, my hair looks almost civilized again!
So the big question is:
“Shall I heave myself and my backpack up Mount Baden-Powell or should I better play safe and take the detour around it?”
Alright… Laying in my tent, it is 5pm! Never made camp so early. But have never been in a PCT storm before either!
My Therma Rest Neo Air X lite sleeping mattress is a great piece of gear. I am very happy with it, as it is soft, lightweight and I sleep surprisingly well on it.
But it can get holes.
I am so very thirsty!! Big time thirsty!!
I know, in my last post I happily stated that we were so lucky this year and have plenty of water. But one has only plenty of water if one is smart enough to thoroughly plan ahead!
Ready to go!
I am at Scout & Frodo. A famous Trailangel couple who hosts PCT hikers. They have put up 3 big tents in their garden, each sleeps 6 hikers, they cook for us and drive all of us to the Southern Monument in Campo tomorrow.
