We are in the Basin!
Alright! Enough zero days!
We bloody gotta do “The Basin” now! No point in waiting any longer!
“Lightning storms you can come! Bring ’em’ on!

Plan A stands!
Felix just talked on the phone to Barbara. He got her phone number from the local grocery store.
I am laying in my hotel bed in South Fork. Felix went over to the gasstation to get us our mandatory pizza! Yes! They sell Pizza at gasstations in the US!
Alright, just some tiny more roadwalking and then we will hit Grants, our next town for shower, food, resupply, laundry, bed!
Alright, we have all calmed down after the recent events and have now some road walking to do, out of Silver City. Road walking is terrible for the feet, hips and knees, but the CDT has apparently plenty of it.
So here we are, out in the desert of New Mexico!
Felix and I keep reminding ourselves, that we are actually out here “doing it!”
We are driving through Arkansas, Texas and New Mexico! Well Dale and Felix do all the work, I am just happily sitting in the back of the van, looking at the landscape go by.
Andy’s dad and his wife drive us further north. So I get to sit a bit more in this enormously gigantic car and be very comfortably driven all the way up.
It is 5.50 am, I eat a Snickers bar for breakfast. Here in the desert you can only eat them in the morning after a cool night. During the day, you would have to deal with Snickers soup.
I am in Tehachapi in a hair salon! Even though we are “Hiker Trash” (more about the term “Hiker Trash” later in another blogpost), I think I want to keep up some sort of style!
So, my hair looks almost civilized again!
