Roadwalking and Tears
We make it out to Highway 12 where Dale picks us up one last time. Everything going smooth, the van is right there! No “Dale” adventure this time!

Alright, we have all calmed down after the recent events and have now some road walking to do, out of Silver City. Road walking is terrible for the feet, hips and knees, but the CDT has apparently plenty of it.
So here we are, out in the desert of New Mexico!
Felix and I keep reminding ourselves, that we are actually out here “doing it!”
We are driving through Arkansas, Texas and New Mexico! Well Dale and Felix do all the work, I am just happily sitting in the back of the van, looking at the landscape go by.
Alright, guess I have seen enough of Chicago!
I keep stopping and staring at these skyscrapers in disbelieve. I am a bit intimidated by all this here. This city is to me somewhat surreal.
Oh my goodness it has been a busy few months! Constantly working, constantly glimpsing at my ever growing todo lists! (Note the plural here!)
Constantly rather exhausted!
Decision made! I will do this “ice axe, crampons and self arresting” course in order to prepare for my next thru hike!! I am all set, the plane to Inverness, Scotland, leaves in 7 hours. So I better get some sleeping done.
Well!
“Hey there everybody!”
Long time no see! I missed you guys!
We haven’t heard from each other in an awfully long while. But this will change, as I am slowly but surely getting into “CDT Preparation Mode”!
Well, isn’t this one of the big questions for every hiker, let alone long distance hiker!?
My alarm goes off at 6.28 am.
First thing I do (as everybody else probably also does first thing in the morning), I grab my phone and check emails!
There is an email from Felix in my inbox.
